Frequently Asked Questions

We understand there can be a lot of questions when it comes to your home or business’s electrical needs - here’s a few we get often:

How much does an electrical service call cost?

The cost of a service call can vary depending on the nature of the issue, the time required, and the scope of work involved. In most cases, homeowners can expect a typical service call to range between $150–$450. After evaluating the issue, our technicians will discuss your options and provide clear, straightforward pricing before any work begins.

Do you offer financing?

Yes — we offer financing options to help make electrical projects more manageable for homeowners and businesses. Our financing partners provide simple application options and flexible payment plans for qualifying customers. Whether you’re planning an upgrade, repair, or larger installation project, we’re happy to help you explore available financing solutions.

What's the difference between residential and commercial services?

Residential electrical service focuses on single-family homes and smaller residential properties, including services like lighting, panel upgrades, generators, remodels, and home electrical repairs. Commercial electrical service involves larger-scale systems for businesses and commercial properties such as multi-family buildings, churches, retail stores, factories, offices, sports complexes, and more. Commercial projects often require more complex electrical systems, higher power demands, and specialized equipment to support larger operations.

Do you install EV chargers?

Yes — we install EV chargers for both residential and commercial properties. With so many charger options available today, choosing the right setup depends on your vehicle, charging needs, and installation location. Our team can help you select the right charger for your space, or we can professionally install a customer-provided unit. We’ll make sure your electrical system is properly prepared for safe, reliable charging at home or your business.

Do smoke detectors require regular maintenance?

Yes — smoke alarms do require regular maintenance to ensure they continue working properly when you need them most. We recommend testing your alarms monthly, replacing batteries at least once a year, and cleaning them regularly to prevent dust buildup that can affect performance. Most smoke alarms should also be completely replaced every 10 years, as the sensors become less reliable over time. If your alarm is chirping, giving false alarms, or you’re unsure of its age, it may be time for a replacement. Keeping smoke alarms properly maintained is one of the simplest ways to help protect your home and family.

I have a new construction home and the dryer I brought with me trips the breaker. Why?

If a breaker trips when your dryer is running in a new construction home, it could be caused by an overloaded circuit, an improper wiring connection, or a sensitive AFCI breaker detecting a potential issue. Newer dryers require a dedicated 220–240V circuit, and even a small wiring problem or loose connection can cause the breaker to trip as a safety precaution. In some cases, the issue may also stem from the dryer itself or an incompatible breaker setup. Because the home is newly built, this type of issue is often related to installation and may be covered under your builder’s warranty. If the breaker continues to trip, it’s important to have the circuit and appliance inspected rather than repeatedly resetting it.

I have a new construction home, why do my breakers keep tripping when doing simple things like running a vacuum?

In newer homes, breakers are often more sensitive because they’re designed with updated safety technology like AFCI breakers (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters). These breakers can trip when high-powered appliances like vacuums, hair dryers, or space heaters create electrical patterns that resemble a potential hazard. In many cases, it’s simply caused by too many devices running on the same circuit at once, but loose wiring connections, faulty appliances, or damaged cords can also trigger the breaker. While an occasional trip may not be unusual, frequent tripping should always be inspected to rule out an underlying electrical issue. Resetting the breaker repeatedly without addressing the cause is never recommended.

Why does my electrician say I need to change my electrical panel?

Usually, it comes down to one of a few things:

🔺 Your current panel may not safely handle your home’s electrical demand anymore

🔺 The panel could be outdated or showing signs of wear

🔺 Breakers may be failing or tripping frequently

🔺 Your system may no longer meet current electrical code standards

🔺 Your electrical panel is the heart of your home’s electrical system. When it’s overloaded, outdated, or not functioning properly, it can affect everything from everyday convenience to overall safety.

A panel upgrade isn’t always about “selling more work” — in many cases, it’s about making sure your home can safely and reliably handle modern electrical use.
